Message for The Unition of Hearts

There are several design options available for future Groom & Bride. Some like it lavishly adorned with Pastillage Flowers, others might like intricate fine detailing of a Royal Icing patterns like Lace, or the rest might just like Simple Message written on their cake.

A quote, or message written on cake can be traced back from years back. It can be considered to be a classic way in presenting a cake respectively to it's meaning. Often, Birthday Cakes are the most common cakes with the famous "Happy Birthday..." message on the cake. Nonetheless, in Malaysia, we are not restricted to such tradition. Wedding Cakes and even Engagement Gift (Hantaran Pertunangan) have been seen decorated with messages like "Happy Wedding Day" and "Happy Engagement Day." Truth be told, I observed the trend of writing messages on cake when I worked at Secret Recipe Cafe and Restaurant. Lots of customers then, always requested their cakes to have a message written on. From a simple "Happy Birthday" to "Happy Wedding Day" and all the way to a long-paragraph essay (Yes! I'm serious - Lol), I've done it all. I have to thank Secret Recipe for giving me the opportunity to at least practice my Icing-Writing on cakes. It was all worth it.

having said that, here are some examples of a Wedding Cake I created for the couple Fifie & Jozz (Please excuse the bad quality pictures). It was a single square Chocolate Cake frosted and sandwiched with Vanilla Buttercream and iced with Fondant. The message was written using Royal Icing (Together with the Filigree). A small cluster of Pastillage Flowers completed the cake.

Pastel Colored Love

One of my former primary school-mate, Atylia contacted me and asked if I can make her a cake for "Hantaran" on her Engagement Ceremony. We haven't talked as much in school actually, but I guess it's good to know that we always there when in need. She asked for the same design as the Red and White Wedding Cake but with no tiers at all. A little twist made when she opt for Chocolate Cake frosted with Vanilla Buttercream and Iced with Fondant.

Her cake was designed accordingly to her request. However, a slight alteration to the Bouquet Topper had gave the cake it's own personality. Instead of gathering just Roses in different colors, I introduced another complementary flower - The Baby's Breath. Also, some Green color of Leaves tied up all the Bouquet nicely. Another distinct feature in difference to the reference design, the Roses here are made in 3 different shades of the same color. The color pallet proposed was in Pastel Themed - Purple and Pink. I incorporated the colors mainly in the Bouquet Topper with additional flowers of Baby's Breath in Pastel Yellow and Some leaves for the Green. The rest of the design is quite similar to the reference design which is Quilted Effects and Hearts Studded.

Ornate Cupcakes

Cupcakes aren't just cute little things, but they are sweet too. same with other cakes, cupcakes can be elaborately decorated. From a simple Icing Sugar dusting to Buttercream to even Fondant. For me creativity has no boundaries. And with foods, creativity to decorate cupcakes or cakes in general has always sparks my enthusiasm. To be honest, it's much more fun in decorating than to bake. Here are some pictures taken from a Cupcake order for "Hantaran Perkahwinan"dated September 2012. They were Lemon Poppy Seed Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream frosting.

Design wise, the cupcakes were in the size of 2"-bottomed regular Black Cupcake liners. The frosting was Vanilla Buttercream as also for the Buttercream Roses. The Buttercream Roses were piped on a Flower Nail for an easy handling and then let cool down in the refrigerator. Once the cupcakes are frosted, the Buttercream Roses were transferred on the frosted cupcakes. Gold Sugar Pearls called Dragées in French embellished the Buttercream Roses to enhance the Luxurious Appeal. It was a tedious job actually, but it was all worth it at the end.

It was Crèmeuss' first ever Wedding Cake

Assalamualikum and hey! guys!... I've been quite busy today with some work. However I managed to tweak some of the features on this blogspot (Geez! it's gonna take a while for me to get used to it). Here are some pictures of my first ever wedding cake dated some when in late 2011. It's a 4-tiered: 3 Dummies and an actual cake on the bottom.

The cake chosen was the classic cake that every bakers should know, it's the Marble Cake. Seductive chocolate cake batter swirled around in luscious vanilla butter cake batter. Who needs only one when you can have two at the same time?

Design wise, the whole unit themed after the color Red and White. However, I squeezed some Green in just to enliven the overall color pallet. Buttercream was chosen to sandwich and ice the cake and Fondant used to cover the whole cake. It was then embossed to mimic the appearance of quilted fabric that studded with little Red Hearts. The construction was mixed of stacked and pillared to make it look more interesting. Also, there was a Bouquet of Roses in different shades of Reds/Pinks and it was not a real flower bouquet, it was made from a Home-made Pastillage - Decorative Sugar Art.

Pastry Pro Experience

Pastry Pro has always been the place I wanted to be since hearing all about it in my Diploma years. Been trying to reach there but had no luck. On 29th January 2013 I finally decided to go to the Pastry Pro at Taman Bukit Maluri by myself. It was a tiring long drive through never-ending-highways, traffic jams, and worse - I even got lost. Luckily I didn't went far ahead... Lol! Arriving at the Pastry Pro somehow gave me that butterflies in my stomach. I was so overwhelmed and Oh! My God!, it was so amazing seeing all the products I've always wanted laying on the shelves, hanging on the wall, and showcased in the glass cabinets. I was literally trying to catch up my breath and I got to tell you - I touched and inspect every products there. I'm weird I know... Lol! But however, I didn't ended up buying lots of stuff but hey!, at least i know where to find my things after this right?...Oh Pastry Pro...I've already missing you.

Pastry Pro - I'll be back soon

Having said that, this blogspot hadn't been progressing much on its 2nd day. Apology on that, I'm Sorry~. After all I'm still learning how to customize this blogspot.
